The Vision Behind
11:11 Racing

Tumba B. Cool is the Founder and CEO of 11:11 Racing, bringing an entrepreneurial mindset and a lifelong love of horses into the world of thoroughbred racing. Originally from East Orange, New Jersey, Tumba has deep family roots in Lexington, Kentucky, a place that left a lasting impression on him through annual family reunions and early exposure to the culture and beauty of horse country.

Before entering horse racing, Tumba launched and operated several businesses across different industries, developing a strong foundation in leadership, branding, and community building. Although horses had always been a personal passion, it wasn't until his relocation to Lexington in 2021 that he was able to fully immerse himself in the sport.

Soon after arriving, Tumba met Kentucky Derby–winning trainer Larry Demeritte, whose horse West Saratoga competed in the historic 150th running of the Kentucky Derby. Under Demeritte's guidance, Tumba was given the rare opportunity to study under a lifetime horseman. Through this mentorship—and the gift of a racehorse and a broodmare—he gained firsthand exposure to the discipline, responsibility, and tradition of thoroughbred racing. Remarkably, just one year after entering the sport, Tumba experienced the excitement of attending the Kentucky Derby, a milestone that confirmed his calling within racing.

Larry Demeritte passed away this past May, leaving a profound impact on the sport and on Tumba personally. His legacy continues to inspire Tumba to operate with integrity, humility, and ambition within the "Sport of Kings," while pushing forward to reach new heights and honor the foundation Demeritte helped establish.

As Tumba studied the industry, he recognized a lack of access and representation for minorities, along with a history that had excluded many who once played a vital role in shaping horse racing. Rather than respond with resentment, he chose to focus on progress—founding 11:11 Racing as a collaborative, inclusive platform designed to modernize the racetrack experience and expand opportunities for participation and ownership.

Today, Tumba works alongside an elite team of trainers, groomsmen, blacksmiths, stable hands, exercise riders, jockeys, and equine veterinarians, united by a shared commitment to horsemanship, excellence, and care for the horse. He is a devoted husband and father of eight, and outside of racing and business, he enjoys horse riding, flying airplanes, and travel.

Through 11:11 Racing, Tumba B. Cool is building more than a racing operation—he is carrying forward a legacy, opening doors for the next generation, and helping shape the future of thoroughbred racing.
